Okay, okay, I’ll admit it.
Indeed, I am a Canadian.
When I very first started at Candy, I was overly cautious of protecting myself and my location so I lied and pretended to be an American. Living, “close to the Canadian border” I would say.
Well, once I started saying, “Eh!?” on calls, it was pretty obvious where I was from.
Please, do not ask me what part of Canada I am from as that is not safe for me to reveal.
In this blog post, I am going to break down some common Canadian stereotypes and tell you whether or not they are true for your favourite Canadian, Jemma.
Jemma, the Canadian, EH?!
Do you love maple syrup?
Don’t tell the other Canadians, because this is the wrong answer. Honestly, we make some of the best maple syrup in the world up here, but I prefer Aunt Jemima!
Can you skate?
Yes, and I don’t know a single Canadian who can’t. Our old $5 bill used to have kids playing hockey on it. Skating really is a part of Canadian culture. Every guy I knew growing up played hockey and every girl was a figure skater.
Do you love hockey?
Fuck yes. All of us Canadians do. I don’t fuck with a lot of Canadian teams tough. I am a Boston Bruins bitch.
You have Monopoly Money
Okay, I’ll admit. We do have weird plastic bills and the $100 ones seem to be maple syrup-scented. However, Americans think it’s weird we have coloured money, I think it’s weird all their bills are the same colour. Most countries have currency in numerous colours. Take that, America.
You Buy Milk in Bags
Yes, we do. What is a carton or jug? In recent years they have been seriously cutting back on this due to recent bans on single-use plastics. However, for a long time, all grocery stores ever had was milk in bags. LMFAO, you need to put it in a special “milk jug” and then cut one corner of the bag off so it pours properly.
Your Healthcare Sucks
You hurt my feelings! I guess I’ll go to my family doctor and get them and everything else I need checked for free. We also just got a country-wide dental plan.
