Tonight was the night. Halloween, and more importantly, James’ first proper trick-or-treating adventure! “Are you ready for the candy, my little monster?” I cooed, smoothing down the soft fabric of his costume. It was a classic, footed onesie, complete with an oversized pair of eyes on the hood that bounced with each step he took. He’d spent weeks picking it out and was very excited to wear it.
James giggled. “Ready, Mama! Monster go get candy!” He hopped a little, his large hands already reaching for the empty pumpkin bucket I’d placed at the door. “That’s right, my sweet boy. Mama’s going to help you fill it all the way up to the top!” Grabbing my own jacket and the trick-or-treat bag I’d packed with essentials – a small flashlight, some wipes, and a spare pacifier, just in case – I reached for his hand as we walked out the door. “Okay, little monster,” I whispered. “Let’s go make some magic.”

The street was already a vibrant spectacle of costumed figures, parents ushering their goblins and princesses from door to door. James watched with wide-eyed wonder, pointing occasionally at a particularly impressive pirate or a surprisingly realistic vampire. As we approached the first house, I could feel James’ anticipation building. He wiggled, excitedly. “Knock, Mama! Knock!”
He raised a large, chubby fist and gave a tentative knock. The door opened, revealing a kind-faced woman adorned with a witch’s hat. “Trick or treat!” James piped up, his deep voice a little shy but full of determination. The woman’s face broke into a warm smile. “Well, hello there, little monster! What a scaaaary costume!” She dropped a handful of candy into his pumpkin bucket.
James beamed, clutching his newly acquired treasure. “Thank you!” As we walked to the next house, James trotting happily beside me, his big hand never leaving mine, I felt a sense of quiet contentment settle over me. This was what it was all about. The night was still young, and there was a whole lot more candy to collect with my sweet ABDL boy!
