The Becketts’ Haunted Mansion has been a tradition for several years now. I wasn’t able to make it last year. Every year they select students that they want to help. They take it very seriously. The students that choose to participate have to go to their house for orientation, training, and rehearsal. Then they have to commit to volunteer every weekend of October. This year they chose me! At first, I didn’t know if I could handle the time commitment with my job. But they told me that they wanted me to be an evil Raggedy Ann doll. They told me that I was perfect for the part, and that I looked so much like Raggedy Ann, and no one else would cut it. So I finally agreed to do it. I have to admit that it sounded like a lot of fun.
Becketts’ Haunted Mansion
When we were at their house for orientation, we got a tour. It was an old Victorian mansion. It was really cool but really creepy at the same time. There were so many rooms that most of us were going to have our own. Mine was so scary and demented with evil dolls everywhere. To be honest, it was almost too scary for me. But I had already committed to it.
I have to admit that my little Raggedy Ann dress was so cute. There was also an Andy doll next door. We were connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom. There were monsters, clowns, zombies, and all kinds of terrifying characters. I never liked haunted houses or scary movies as a kid. So I’m not sure why I agreed to this. I started to get really scared and regret it. But it was too late. I was at the point of no return. They turned off all of the lights, and it was time. Be watching for Part 2
